District Attorney
 | The Office of the District Attorney of Lebanon County plays a vital
role in protecting and serving the citizens of Lebanon County. The
current District Attorney is Dave Arnold.
He and his staff of
eight assistant district attorneys, five county detectives, as well as
numerous support staff, are responsible for the prosecution of every
criminal charge that occurs in Lebanon County. Typically, over 2000
criminal cases are handled each year. |
 | The District Attorney's primary function is the prosecution of all
criminal acts committed within Lebanon County. The District Attorney
works in conjunction with all of the police departments within Lebanon
County to provide both assistance and guidance in criminal
investigations. After an individual is arrested, the District Attorney,
with the continued assistance of the police department, assumes control of
the prosecution of that individual. The District Attorney continues the
prosecution until the individual is either convicted or determined to be
innocent. |
 | In addition to prosecuting adult criminal cases, the District Attorney
also represents the Commonwealth's interests in various other areas,
including juvenile criminal matters, Dependency Hearings, Protection from
Abuse violations, and Domestic Relations Contempt Hearings. |
 | A mobile crime laboratory
is available to facilitate the transportation and utilization of
forensic equipment and supplies to crime scenes within Lebanon County.
|
 | Training is offered free of charge to any municipal police officer
within Lebanon County. Each officer trained and qualified to utilize the
mobile crime unit is sworn in as a Special County Detective by a Judge of
the Court of Common Pleas of Lebanon County. |
 | |
 | This is not an emergency vehicle. There is no siren. All traffic
signals, stop signs and other traffic control devices must be obeyed when
the crime van is utilized. |
 | When film, fingerprint processing substances, or chemicals, are used,
the cost is borne by the municipality utilizing said expendables/supplies. |
 | Each municipality agrees to pay a user fee of $100 per year in order
to participate in a cooperative agreement. The money goes toward
preservation and maintenance of the mobile crime unit. |
