PENN STATE COOPERATIVE EXTENSION

wpe4.jpg (25029 bytes)

Winifred McGee and her staff are available with all sorts of information from a packet containing everything you need to start a small business to master gardeners with advice on bugs and fertilizers.  The mission of Cooperative Extension "is to extend informal educational opportunities to the citizens, both youth and adult of Pennsylvania.  Educational programs provide clientele with information and knowledge of alternative opportunities that will enhance income-producing skills, improve quality of life, and development leadership skills."

Cooperative extension is administered by the College of Agricultural Sciences within the Pennsylvania State University.  Educational programs are based on the latest scientific research findings.  Major programs are carried out in the areas of agriculture and natural resources, family living, 4-H and youth development, and community development.  Cooperative extension priorities are established on the basis of clientele needs, latest research information, and legislative mandates.

The scope and breadth of educational programs are dependent upon the scientific knowledge and expertise available within the college of Agricultural Sciences and other colleges in the Land Grant institutions.
