Area Agency on Aging

The Area Agency on Aging provides information on Eldercare; volunteer opportunities, options assessment program, smoke detector program, meals on wheels, Alzheimer's support group, attendant care services, senior activity center services, options nursing home diversion, personal care services, Apprise, Lifeline program, telephone reassurance, pre-retirement workshops, protective services, transportation services, family caregiver support program, information and referral service, care management, senior employment service, long term care ombudsman, and other agency services.  Contact Mike Kristovensky and his staff at 710 Maple St., 2nd floor, Lebanon PA  17046 or call 273-9262.  office hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Adult Day Care

bullet1987 - Opened initial site in the recreation room of Cedar Haven
bullet1/3/89 - Opened a second day care site at Messiah Lutheran Church (3 days/week)
bullet6/1/90 - Opened a new Eldercare Respite building on the grounds of Cedar Haven
bullet4/1/91 - Expanded Messiah ADC program to 5 days/week
bulletThe two current ADC sites are at capacity with 62 active different users.  The current suggested donation is $15 per day.
bullet1/2/2000 - Open proposed 14-21 client per day 1326 square foot facility at Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra.

As of 1992, Lebanon county's total population was 115,832.  The 60+ population stood at 23,594 or 20%.  The 60+ population is growing at approximately twice the rate of the overall county population.

A new bus for senior centers to take trips is expected to arrive in January 2000 and after a wheel chair lift is installed, placed into service around March.

The agency needs Meals-On-Wheels volunteers one day every two weeks to deliver approximately ten meals each.
